Klaas Schuijt treedt met ingang van 1 januari 2010 toe als performance partner.
Klaas holds a Masters degree in Economics from the Free University, Amsterdam, the Netherlands where he graduated cum laude. He started his career at the Ministry of Finance, International Monetary Affairs Department, the Hague, the Netherlands.
After four years in different capacities at the Ministry, Klaas joined NMB Bank, the main predecessor of the present ING Bank N.V. in June 1986. Within the international credit department he climbed the ranks of analysts and was appointed senior manager of the international credit management department in 1989. This department was responsible for processing and advising to credit committees the credit proposals from all over the world (except the Netherlands). |

To gain front office experience within the bank, Klaas was appointed head of the Amsterdam Trade & Commodity Finance department in 1992. In this position he was responsible for the management and the profit & loss of the department. In the capacity of manager he was dealing with CEO’s, CFO’s and Treasurers of large commodity trading houses like Cargill, Glencore, Marc Rich Ltd., Vitol, Gerald Metals and a number of more medium sized trading houses. He was also one of the “founding fathers” of what later on was called structured commodity finance. In 1994 Klaas was approached by Global Risk Management to set up a new department for country risk, bank risk and risk on non-bank financial institutions. This was a new “greenfield” for ING in order to better manage concentration risks on these fields.
Subsequently, in 1996, he was appointed Senior Manager of the International Credit Restructuring Group (Intensive Care Department). In this position he built up the expertise to restructure credits (and companies) such that clients were able to weather the storm and continue their business.
Thereafter, Klaas held senior positions as Head of Risk Management for Central & Eastern Europe, and for the region Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
In 2002, Klaas was approached to set up a new training curriculum for ING’s Wholesale and Risk Management Division. In this capacity he has been both trainer, HRD advisor and programme director for several high level and well regarded programmes like The Intensive Banking Programme (mandatory for wholesale banking graduates), the MidCorporate Banking Course, and the International Wholesale banking Programme.
Klaas is a particular specialist in the different credit skills like accounting, financial analysis, credit risk analysis, credit structuring and documentation, work out, but also in fields of macroeconomics and industry analysis. In his capacity as trainer he worked in all the countries of Central & Eastern Europe, countries in Asia, in the USA and some countries in South America. |
